I haven't gotten around to downloading the photos yet so I've been procrastinating (again!) - surprise surprise.
Anyhow, Ainsworth was great. About 8.5 hrs travelling time with a couple of pee / gas stops along the way. We had some light snow, mostly up the mountains a few hundred feet, and some fog. The "hot" pool was 40 with the intake around 45, the "cold" pool was 5 and the big pool 35.5.
Saturday we had a lie in, drove north a short distance to Kaslo. Had brunch, walked the main drag, stopped at Fletcher Falls on the way back. A late lunch / early dinner followed by a few hours in the pools and then to bed. Man does the heat sap the energy out of you.
Sunday after an Easter Brunch we drove north to Nelson. Again wandered, shopped, those few stores that were opened, toured the local musuem - amazing history. Followed by an early dinner, drive back to the springs for a soak before bed.
There's definately something to be said for staying at the springs to wander down in a provided robe with warm towels. Food options are limited, the hotel restaurant is a tad overpriced and trying a little too hard to be more posh than it is. Overall a good relaxing weekend. All the rooms overlook the parking lot and out toward the lake. Man I though Okanagan Lake was big but Kootenay Lake is HUGE in comparson. One local says it's about 1800 sq miles. That's a lot of water!
Monday we headed out to catch the 9:40am ferry. With losing an hour on the return trip it makes timing the ferry very important when it's running once every hour 20 min. A pretty drive for the return trip, a picnic lunch in the car, it was a little too windy and cool for outside, with a decent return time around 7:30pm.
Currently Shana is relaxing with the retirees in AZ and Michelle is driving with the kids, hopefully arriving today, to GA to see some family (the kids have April off with year round school). Here in Calgary today it was finally warm. A cold front's been hanging around for the past week or so, but today it was in the upper teens rather than around zero. Hopefully the wind will calm down and our first ball practice on Sunday will be enjoyable.
