Friday I found out one of my best friends has breast cancer ... not sure how extreme at this point but scary and mind numbing at the best of time, but even more earth shattering when you're months shy of your 40th birthday.
Sunday afternoon was wonderful. Spent some time catching up with old friends, Myla & Murray and Carey & Dean, and meeting the new addition Madison. She slept the entire visit. Carey & Dean appear to be adjusting well to their new addition.
And as the weekend started, it ended ... this time with news from my dad that his mom had taken another turn and the doctors had put her on morphine. In the grand scheme of things not the worst. Ella hasn't had much quality of life for a number of months since she had her last bout of strokes. As it happens, Ella passed on this morning. Wherever she is, she is now free to be happy and return home - something she's continually asked for ever since her first stroke a few years ago. Ella live a long and prosperous 95 years. She started out as a homestead baby in the Peace River, pioneered her way in the Scout movement, and maintained her headstrong attitude until the end. Ella will be missed by many, including me the first to call her Grandma.
