Another day on the road

Well today was an easier (less rushed) day.

We left Queenstown around 9:30am and headed north.

The scenery is amazing ... I know I've said it before but it bears repeating.

In and out of the NZ Alps, back and forth to the coast line. A very interesting country side.

All was great until the sandfly infestation. Haast and area is swarming with sandflies ... nasty buggers even with bug spray!!! Our picnic lunch was in the backseat of the car. We could barely stand it to get out briefly to take pictures.

We arrived at Fox Glacier in the late afternoon. Took a couple short drives to view points in the area.

Tomorrow we're scheduled for a helicopter tour of the glaciers. Hopefully the clouds will clear. Today has been seen a mixture of low clouds over glaciers and not all flights have gone.

I forgot to mention I have been driving ... wrong side of the road and everything. Hasn't been that bad. The roads are fairly quiet. A lot of one lane bridges with right of ways make it interesting though, plus the bikers (pedallers).
